Donating with Crypto
A step-by-step guide to donating on Donation Center with cryptocurrency — even if it is your first time.
Before You Start
To donate on Donation Center you need cryptocurrency in a wallet you control or on an exchange account that lets you send it. Two common options:
- An exchange account — Buy crypto with your local currency on a crypto exchange, then send it from there.
- A wallet app — Keep crypto in your own wallet (a mobile or browser wallet) and send it from there.
Tip: If you are new to crypto, a stablecoin such as USDT or USDC is the simplest choice. Its value is pegged to the US dollar, so the amount you send is the amount the campaign receives.
Step by Step
1. Choose a campaign and an amount
Open the campaign and enter the amount you want to give in the campaign's currency (for example USD, EUR or TRY).
2. Pick a coin and a network
At checkout, choose the coin you want to pay with and the network to send it on. Checkout shows the exact equivalent of your donation in that coin, at the current rate.
| If you hold… | Good networks to send on |
|---|---|
| USDT or USDC | Polygon, Base, Solana (low fees), Ethereum |
| ETH | Ethereum, Base |
| BTC | Bitcoin |
| SOL | Solana |
The current list of supported networks and coins is always shown at checkout.
3. Send the payment
Copy the address and amount from checkout into your exchange or wallet and send it. Check three things before you confirm:
- The network matches the one shown at checkout;
- The address is exactly the one shown at checkout;
- The amount covers the donation. Some exchanges deduct a withdrawal fee from the amount you send — add it on top if needed.
4. Keep your transaction ID
Your exchange or wallet shows a transaction ID (also called a transaction hash). Keep it: it is your proof of payment, and you can look it up on a public blockchain explorer at any time.
5. Follow your donation
Your donation is held in escrow until the campaign ends and has been reviewed. You can follow it under "My Donations" in your account. See Where your money is held.
Common Mistakes
- Sending on the wrong network — The same coin exists on several networks. A payment sent on a network other than the one shown at checkout may not arrive.
- Typing the address by hand — Always copy and paste it, then compare the first and last characters.
- Forgetting exchange fees — If your exchange deducts a fee from the amount sent, the campaign receives less than you intended.
- Paying outside checkout — Only send to the address shown on Donation Center's checkout, never to an address sent to you privately.
Something Went Wrong?
Contact us through the contact page with your transaction ID and the campaign name. We will look into it.
Costs at a Glance
- Network (gas) fee: paid by you when sending, depends on the network.
- Donation Center service fee: added on top of the support amount at checkout, so the campaign receives the full support amount. See Fees.
