How the Volunteer Network Works

What the Donation Center Volunteer Network does, who can join and how to apply.

In Short

The Volunteer Network is a network of people who support the fundraising and donation campaigns on Donation Center in their free time. Some of our volunteers contribute locally, that is physically, where they live; others contribute remotely on some campaigns. You do not have to be in your own region.

Volunteering is not a job; you give your time, knowledge and effort of your own will. To thank you for your contribution we give Donate Token (see Donate Token as a Thank-You below).

What Do Volunteers Do?

Where you live (locally)

  • Site visits and on-the-ground observation: Visit a campaign or an organization in your city and share what you saw with our team as an observation note.
  • Event and field-day support: Help organize and coordinate the meetings, distribution days and solidarity days that campaign owners hold in your region.
  • Local organization and community liaison: Be the bridge between Donation Center and the associations, university clubs and local networks in your region.
  • Expert opinion: Give our team your view on a campaign review, drawing on your knowledge of a field such as law, medicine, engineering, education or finance.

Remotely

  • Campaign observer: On some campaigns, especially projects in other countries, we may appoint you campaign observer. You follow the campaign's progress from a distance and help where needed. You do not need to live where the campaign is.

Advising

  • By advising: Volunteers who wish to advise campaigns: they answer questions and show the way. Advising is a free service, and you can do it wherever you are. For campaigns that end successfully you earn Donate Token.

Mentoring

  • Mentoring: Mentoring is a separate programme from volunteering. If you would like to accompany campaigns and ventures with your experience, you can apply as a mentor; mentors join with the platform's approval.

When you apply, you choose one or more areas. Campaign observing comes later, as our team suggests it.

How Much Time Do I Need?

As much as you have. There is no minimum time or schedule; you plan your contribution around your free time. No special training or experience is needed either. For expert opinion, your knowledge of the field is enough.

Volunteering is not paid, but we do not want your contribution to go unthanked:

  • Every volunteer accepted into the network receives Donate Token once as a thank-you.
  • Later on, we plan to give additional Donate Token if a campaign you contributed to ends successfully.

Rewards are added to your account when the community reward program opens; the opening time, the amounts and the conditions may change. The reward is given once per person. It is cancelled for applications made with several accounts or against the rules. For more about Donate Token, see the Donate Token page.

How Do I Join?

  1. Sign in with your account. If you do not have one, sign up. Your name, e-mail address and location come from your profile; you do not fill them in again.
  2. Fill in the volunteer application form. On the form you share:
    • the areas you want to help in (you can choose more than one),
    • the languages you speak and your level,
    • a short note on how you would like to contribute,
    • the invitation code, if one of our members invited you (optional),
    • your confirmation that you have read the volunteering principles.
  3. Our team reviews your application. It looks at the areas you chose and where you are.
  4. Follow the result from your dashboard. You follow the status of your application on the Volunteering & Reference screen of your user dashboard.

Volunteer agreement

Joining as a volunteer means accepting the Volunteer agreement of Donation Center; the principles (report what you see as it is, respect personal information, declare conflicts of interest, make no promises on behalf of Donation Center, join with one account) are in it. The agreement is put to you for confirmation when you apply; if it changes, you are asked to confirm it again. You can read the current text among the legal documents.

What If There Is No Campaign in My City?

You are still a member of the network. When a campaign starts in your city you will be told, and regular updates and reports about campaigns are shared.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. If you want to give expert opinion, your knowledge of the field is enough.

Where do I see the result of my application?

What does a volunteer look like?

A volunteer profile shows your name, the city and country you are in, the areas you contribute to and the languages you speak. On the Volunteer Network page you can see fictional example profiles.
