Payments
How paying works on Donation Center — campaign currency, crypto payments, escrow and fees.
How Paying Works
The payment methods on offer are listed at checkout; they can include card, bank transfer and cryptocurrency. This guide covers donating with cryptocurrency. A donation goes through four steps:
- The campaign's currency — The campaign owner chooses the currency of the campaign (for example USD, EUR or TRY). The goal and the amount raised are shown in that currency.
- Your amount — You choose how much to give in the campaign's currency and see the exact equivalent before you pay.
- You pay in crypto — You pay the equivalent in any supported cryptocurrency, at the rate at the time of payment.
- Escrow, then release — Your donation is held in Donation Center's escrow wallet. When the campaign ends, it is reviewed and released to the campaign owner.
Example: A campaign's goal is 1,000 USD. You give 50 USD and pay 50 USDT — or the same value in ETH or BTC. The donation waits in escrow until the campaign ends and is reviewed.
Supported Networks and Coins
- Networks: Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, Polygon, Base
- Coins: USDT, USDC, DAI, BTC, ETH, SOL
Donation Center keeps adding networks and coins. The current list is always shown at checkout.
Tip: Always send on the network shown at checkout. A payment sent on a different network may not arrive.
Fees
A 3% service fee is added on top of the support amount at checkout, so the campaign receives the full support amount. The blockchain network (gas) fee is paid by the donor when sending the payment. See Fees for details and a worked example.
Security
Escrow Protection
Donations do not pass straight to the campaign owner. They are held in Donation Center's escrow wallet until the campaign ends and has been reviewed.
Public On-Chain Record
Every crypto donation is a blockchain transaction. Anyone can verify it with its transaction ID.
Campaign Review
Every campaign is reviewed before it goes live, and again before its funds are released.
Encrypted Connection
Every page and form is served over 256-bit SSL (HTTPS).
Receiving the Funds
For campaign owners:
- The amount raised is held in escrow while the campaign runs.
- When the campaign ends, it is reviewed; the full support amount raised is then released to the campaign owner.
- Identity verification is required before the first release.
