Cancellation and refund policy
Version 1 · in effect since Oct 13, 2026
This policy explains when support given to campaigns on Donation Center is cancelled and refunded. It forms part of the Donation and Backing Agreement and the Campaign Owner Agreement.
1. Before payment is completed
You may abandon support whose payment has not been completed at any time; no amount is taken from you.
2. Automatic refunds
In the following cases, the amount in escrow is refunded without you needing to apply:
- an "all or nothing" campaign ends without reaching its target;
- the campaign is paused, unpublished or ended because of a breach of the rules or misleading information;
- the payment is found to be erroneous, duplicated or unauthorised.
3. Donations
Donations are gifts and are not refunded except in the automatic refund cases above. If you donated the wrong amount or to the wrong campaign and the money has not yet been paid out to the Campaign Owner, write to us at once through the contact page; we will review your request.
4. Pre-sales and reward-based support
- If the product or reward is not delivered as promised, allowing for a reasonable delay, you may ask the Campaign Owner for a refund.
- Withdrawal and refund rights that the law of your country grants for distance sales remain unaffected; the obligations arising from these rights rest with the Campaign Owner as the seller.
- If the Campaign Owner does not respond, you may contact us through the contact page; any amount still in escrow may be used for the refund.
5. Investment and lending campaigns
For investment and lending campaigns, refund and withdrawal terms are set out in the campaign documents and in the agreement between you and the Campaign Owner. If the campaign is stopped before it ends or reaches its target, the amount in escrow is refunded.
6. How refunds are made
- Refunds are made to the original payment method and in the same currency.
- The time it takes for a refund to reach your account depends on the payment method and your bank.
- Transaction fees that the payment service provider does not return and currency conversion differences may be deducted from the refund amount; you will be told if this happens.
7. After the money has been paid out
Refund requests that arise after the money has been paid out to the Campaign Owner are directed to the Campaign Owner. Under the Campaign Owner Agreement, Donation Center may reclaim the amount from the Campaign Owner.
8. Payment disputes
If you write to us before raising a dispute with your bank, we can usually resolve the issue faster. Unjustified disputes may lead to restrictions on your ability to give support.
