Fees

What Donation Center charges, what it covers and who pays the network fee.

One Fee: 3% Service Fee

When you back a campaign on Donation Center, a 3% service fee is added on top of the support amount you choose, so the campaign receives the full amount of your support. Creating an account or a campaign is free, and there are no other platform fees.

The 3% covers two things:

  • Payment infrastructure — receiving crypto payments on several networks, converting rates and holding funds in escrow;
  • Running the platform — hosting, security, campaign review and support.

Donation Center sees itself first as a social-responsibility project. The fee is set to cover costs, not to make a profit from donations.

The Network Fee

Every blockchain charges a small network (gas) fee to process a transaction. The donor pays it when sending the payment, and it depends on the network chosen — stablecoins on networks such as Polygon, Base or Solana are usually the cheapest to send.

A Worked Example

Amount
Chosen support amount1,000 USD
Service fee (3%)+30 USD
Total to pay1,030 USD
Released to the campaign owner1,000 USD

Donors pay the blockchain network fee in their wallet when sending the payment; it does not reduce the amount the campaign receives.

When Is the Fee Charged and What Happens on Refunds?

The 3% service fee is collected together with your support at checkout and held in escrow while the campaign runs. If donations are refunded — for example, if a campaign is cancelled or an all-or-nothing campaign does not reach its goal — no service fee is kept and your payment is refunded. Network (gas) fees already paid to the blockchain cannot be returned.

FAQ

Is starting a campaign free?

Yes. Creating an account and starting a campaign are completely free, and the campaign receives the full support amount raised.

Who pays the 3% service fee?

The 3% service fee is added on top of the support amount at checkout and paid by the supporter; nothing is deducted from the funds raised for the campaign.
