Campaign owner agreement
Version 1 · in effect since Oct 13, 2026
This agreement governs the relationship between the person, company or organisation that opens a donation or fundraising campaign on Donation Center (the "Campaign Owner") and Donation Center. It is accepted when a campaign is submitted for review and applies to the campaign and every transaction arising from it. The Campaign Rules and the Cancellation and Refund Policy form part of this agreement.
1. Who can open a campaign
- Individuals, companies and organisations may open a campaign in their own name or on behalf of an organisation they are authorised to represent.
- If you open a campaign on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to represent it and to bind it to this agreement.
- You may add other people to the campaign as team members or managers; you are also responsible for their actions on the campaign.
2. Campaign information and your statements
- The campaign's purpose, target amount, duration, budget, team, documents and any rewards or rights you offer must be accurate, complete and up to date.
- You undertake to use the money raised for the purpose described on the campaign page.
- Where the law of your country or of your backers' countries requires permits, licences, registrations or notifications for the campaign (such as a fundraising permit, a tax registration or approvals needed for an investment offer), obtaining them is your responsibility.
- You are responsible for every piece of information, document and promise you give backers; Donation Center is not obliged to verify the campaign's content.
3. Review and publication
- A campaign goes live after review by the Donation Center team. The team may approve it, send it back for changes or reject it.
- Review is not a guarantee of the campaign's accuracy or success.
- A material change to a live campaign (purpose, target, rewards, duration) may be reviewed again and is announced to backers.
- In case of a breach of this agreement or the Campaign Rules, misleading information, or a suspicion that backers may be harmed, the campaign may be paused, unpublished or ended.
4. How the money is held and paid out
- Backers' payments are held by Donation Center in an escrow account set aside for the campaign and are not paid to you while the campaign is running.
- When the campaign ends, the amount raised is paid out to you (or to the organisation the campaign was opened for) after the deductions below.
- If the campaign was opened on an "all or nothing" basis and the target was not reached, the amount raised is not paid out to you; it is refunded to backers.
- For open-ended campaigns, payouts are made in the periods set for the campaign.
- Before a payout you may be asked to verify your identity, your organisation and your bank or payment account. A payout may be held until verification is complete, while the balance is below the minimum payout amount, or while the campaign is under review.
5. Fees and deductions
- Donation Center deducts from the amount raised the commission that was in force and shown to you when the campaign was opened.
- Payment providers' transaction fees, currency conversion costs and payout costs may also be deducted from the amount raised.
- Taxes and similar obligations relating to the amount raised are yours.
6. Your obligations to backers
- If you offered rewards, products or rights, you deliver them with the content and timing stated on the campaign page. If there is a delay or change, you tell backers promptly and explain why.
- You are responsible for meeting a backer's refund request for rewards, products or rights you cannot deliver.
- You keep backers regularly informed of the campaign's progress and the use of the money through updates.
- Where you are obliged to issue donation receipts, invoices or similar documents, you do so.
7. Refunds and repayment
- If the campaign is ended or unpublished, or a refund to a backer is required, the amount in escrow is refunded to backers.
- If a refund, payment dispute or chargeback is required after the money has been paid out to you, you agree to repay the amount concerned to Donation Center. Donation Center may set it off against your future payouts.
8. Backer information
Backers' details are shown to you only as far as needed to run the campaign, deliver rewards and meet legal obligations. You may not use, sell or share this information for any other purpose, and you may not reveal the identity of a backer who chose to remain anonymous.
9. Content and licence
You confirm that you own, or are licensed to use, the text, images, videos and documents you upload for the campaign. You allow Donation Center to display this content on the site and in promoting and sharing the campaign.
10. Liability
Donation Center acts as an intermediary and escrow holder between backers and the Campaign Owner; it does not guarantee that the campaign will achieve its purpose, that rewards will be delivered or that an investment will produce a return. You are liable for losses caused to Donation Center or to backers by a breach of this agreement or by misleading information in your campaign.
11. Changes and termination
This agreement may be updated; for an important change you will be asked to accept the new version at your next campaign action. For a campaign that has ended, this agreement remains in force until all payout, refund and delivery obligations have been fulfilled.
